Review by admin 20/08/2022I spent around 2 months searching for a portable air conditioner when I finally came across this unit. It's fantastic, we used this product in our south-west facing apartment during several heatwaves. Other tenants in the building were doing whatever they could to stay cool, while my spouse and I had to hide under blankets because of how cold this air conditioner kept us. It's expensive, but it was absolutely worth it.
Review by Comma 10/08/2022I wasn't sure about the Duo system but i couldn't be more pleased. It cools my 900 sq feet with ease and is very quiet. Well done Midea
Review by Terry M 06/08/2022I find this unit much quieter than any other I have had. I have hinged opener windows so there was a slightly complicated install. Since my situation is the same for all portable units, I just modified my existing installation to accommodate the dual hose.
Review by Cool Dude 28/05/2022Very comfortable and does not have any annoying sound. I have 3 of the same kind around the house. I advise you, it is more than wonderful
Review by Rima 17/05/2022The duo hose is a great idea and the unit did cool well on the settings that worked. My unit malfunctioned out of the box. Midea offered me a refund/exchange. The process was a bit tedious but not problematic to get service. I opted not to exchange largely due to the size and weight of the unit. I had to raise it up to reach a window in one room and it was far to heavy. Or course with the higher BTU it makes sense its heavy. Also the duo large hose clips are very far apart and it's impossible to reach all 4 clips at the same time. This made it an ordeal to insert and remove the hose. In short, for me, it was not at all portable. However, for others it may work very well, and I am not opposed to buying another smaller Midea product.
Review by SLianne 09/08/2022I do not recommend Midea portable AC. I purchased a new unit in June (Midea Portable Inverter Air Conditioner - 14,000-BTU ) and in July when the compressor started cycling off every 2 minutes during a heat wave I exchanged it for a new unit. The new unit has started cycling off now as well. I have been waiting since July 29th for a customer service technician to contact me. This is a useless and expensive product and useless customer service. Buyers beware of Midea!
Review by Hot&bothered 10/08/2022I was thinking about purchasing this unit but after reading all the negative reviews I've decided to pass. Their specs meet my requirement but customer service is also high on my list. Maybe in a few years once Midea cleans up its act (customer support) I'll review the Midea product.
Review by Ladybug 08/06/2022I bought this because of the wirecutter reviews and even picked it up so it would not be bashed around with shipping. I even waited 24 hours to make sure oil had settled in the compressor so that nothing would hinder it when starting up .It can't even cool a 200 square foot room which is a joke. It was close to 1K to buy. I will never buy Midea again. Feel scammed. Hopefully I can return it. Not sure why companies like this are allowed to sell garbage that clearly does not work.
Review by hotnsweaty 24/05/2022Bottom line: I did my part, they won't do theirs. Short story: Midea operates like it's still 2001 today. Well news flash, you won't last in the market if you don't keep up with the times. The 2001 customer support practices are outdated and companies that still practice treating their customers worse than a prison guard treats their prisoner are quickly becoming obsolete. You can preach all you want in your replies to these reviews while treating your customers like garbage behind doors Midea (if you actually want to practice what you preach, you have my email so what's stopping you?), but you will have to find every other place I'm putting this review on too; including the BBB. Long story: It works but it squeaks a very high pitched annoying noise. So I emailed Midea a video of the noise and asked them if it's normal, they respond with an email stating that it isn't normal and that I should return the unit to the store since it's still within the store's return period. Yeah, you read that right, a manufacturer defect that has nothing to do with me as the customer, but somehow, I'm liable to redo the installation all over again. Oh, and the best part, trust that the next replacement I get is not gonna have the same problem (spoiler: I got a replacement and it came with the same squeaking noise plus a new squeaking noise as well so now I have a double squeak happening). When I respond back to that email letting them know of my disapproval to this, I get another representative responding with "the noise is deemed normal, but if it is not to your satisfaction, then we recommend returning the unit". Yeah, you read that right again, the noise is now "normal". So now I have no choice but to ask to speak to a supervisor to get to the bottom of this. In case you had any hope, this only gets worse from here. The supervisor talks to me like I'm a beggar, a convict in a prison, a homeless guy seeking shelter, you name it. They compensated me with ... nothing for my troubles
