Green & Smart HVAC System Design for Buildings
We are delighted to invite you to the 6th Midea International HVAC Design Contest — a professional platform dedicated to advancing green and smart HVAC system design for buildings worldwide.
This edition challenges engineers, designers, and students to go beyond convention: to reimagine how buildings breathe, cool, and sustain — and to bring those ideas to a global stage.
The contest was officially launched at the International Opening Ceremony on December 10, 2025. Vietnam's national submission window runs from April to July 2026, followed by a Preliminary Assessment by the Country Judge Panel in August. In September, shortlisted entries advance to the Online Final Assessment by a multi-country judge panel — with Top 3 Professional Group candidates presenting their designs online. The journey concludes with the International Award Ceremony, expected in October 2026.
Who Can Enter?
The contest is open to three participant groups: industry professionals including engineers and HVAC consultants (Professional), Midea partners and distributors (Distributor), and university students in mechanical engineering, refrigeration, or related fields (Student). Whether you are a seasoned professional or an emerging talent, this is your opportunity to be recognized on a world-class platform.
This edition features increased prize values for the Golden and Silver Pencil awards in the Professional category — a reflection of the contest's growing prestige.
The Golden Pencil, the highest honor of the entire contest, carries a prize of $10,000 USD. Five Silver Pencil winners will each receive $3,000 USD, and ten Bronze Pencil winners will each receive $1,000 USD. The Distributor and Student groups each offer five prizes of $1,000 USD. Note: Prize amounts are pre-tax. Winners are responsible for any applicable taxes.

First established in China in 2002 by Midea Building Technologies, the contest has driven 24 years of continuous innovation in HVAC design. Since its international expansion in 2021, it has grown to encompass Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, and Europe — with winning designs that have since been implemented in thousands of buildings worldwide.
Vietnam continues its participation as a national partner in this 6th edition — a testament to the growing presence and capability of the Vietnamese HVAC engineering community on the global stage.
