Global Impact and Strong Presence from Vietnam

The 5th Midea International HVAC Design Contest officially concluded in Haikou, further reinforcing its commitment to advancing high-performance, low-carbon HVAC design solutions on a global scale.

This year, the contest received 1,000 submissions worldwide, with 589 entries shortlisted for the final round and evaluated by a panel of 37 international experts. The expanding scale of the competition highlights its growing influence within the global air conditioning and HVAC community.

In Vietnam, the contest was officially launched with a Kick-off event held on June 27–28, 2025, in Can Tho, marking the start of the new season and attracting more than 40 submissions from the Vietnamese region. This figure reflects the growing interest and increasingly active participation of the domestic market in this internationally recognized professional platform.

HVAC Design Orientation “Beyond Boundaries”

Guided by the spirit of “Beyond Boundaries,” the submitted projects focused on optimizing energy efficiency, enhancing operational flexibility, and adapting to diverse building typologies — from commercial complexes, hotels, and mixed-use developments to hospitals and data centers.

Many solutions clearly demonstrated the growing adoption of VRF systems, optimizing cooling load distribution by zone while integrating centralized control systems with stable communication capabilities. In addition, several proposals incorporated renewable energy solutions to enhance operational efficiency under complex and demanding climate conditions.

The highest honor, the Golden Pencil Award, was presented to The Exchange 106 (Malaysia), recognized for its outstanding energy performance and sustainable approach to HVAC system design.

Vietnam Makes Its Mark Across All Three Categories

This year, participants from Vietnam achieved strong results across all three categories: Professional, Student, and Distributor.

In the Professional category, projects such as Diamond Crown Complex Haiphong, Hyatt Place Ha Long, Cat Tham Beach Eco, Global Business Center, Mixed-Use Complex, and BIG C Ninh Binh Commercial Center were recognized. These projects demonstrate strong capabilities in HVAC system design for large-scale commercial and mixed-use developments, with a focus on cooling load optimization, energy efficiency, and long-term operational performance.

In the Student category, projects such as Heritage West Lake, Air Force Military Medical Hospital, and Data Center and Software Development demonstrated a structured and methodical approach to HVAC design, particularly for facilities with stringent technical requirements such as hospitals and data centers.

In addition, the HATECO HOANG MAI project was recognized in the Distributor category, highlighting the important role of the partner ecosystem in the practical implementation of Midea air conditioning solutions in the Vietnamese market.

Reinforcing Midea’s Position in the Global HVAC Industry

The 5th Midea International HVAC Design Contest is not only a professional platform but also a catalyst for innovation and the continuous elevation of design standards within the HVAC industry.

Through advanced VRF solutions, Inverter technology, and centralized control systems with intelligent communication capabilities, Midea continues to work alongside the engineering community toward high-performance, energy-efficient, and sustainable buildings.
