MELBOURNE, 6 OCTOBER, 2026 – Midea, one of the world’s largest home appliance and smart home technology companies, has today been awarded a prestigious 2026 Australian Good Design Award for its 15 Place Easy-Lift Dishwasher. Recognised in for Product Design in the Domestic Appliances category, the award recognises excellence in design, innovation and impact, with Midea awarded for the intuitive and consumer-focused design of its innovative Easy-Lift Basket, a bottom tray that easily rises up to waist height, even when carrying up to 18kg of dishes.

Established in 1958, the Australian Good Design Awards are Australia’s longest-running international design awards and one of the world’s most respected design recognition programs. The Australian Good Design Awards recognise excellence from around the world across 13 overarching design disciplines and more than 30 categories, with every project evaluated by an independent Jury of more than 100 Australian and international design experts with a focus on Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact.

Midea’s new Easy-Lift functionality eliminates the need to bend down to load or unload the bottom tray and makes it easy to bring even a stacked tray up to waist height. It is designed to bring greater comfort and convenience to a wider array of Australian homes. The Easy-Lift dishwasher also includes a wide range of other premium features, including a 5.5 star water rating, 4.5 star energy rating, Space Master Design that provides 46mm of additional height internally for taller items in the upper basket, and Ion Dishfresh technology which eliminates up to 99.8% of pollutants.

The Australian Good Design Awards Jury said:

“The Jury recognises the Midea Easy-Lift Dishwasher for its meaningful inclusive innovation that addresses accessibility challenges through the distinctive Easy-Lift basket feature, which raises 25cm to eliminate bending and strain for users with mobility limitations while enhancing comfort for all.”

“The Jury was impressed by the strong inclusive thinking demonstrated throughout the design, particularly how the Easy-Lift basket can carry up to 18kg and operate for 75,000 cycles. The combination of the ActiveOpen air dry feature, Ion Dishfresh technology eliminating 99.8% of pollutants, and the Spacemaster design providing 46mm additional internal height alongside impressive 5.5-star water and 4.5-star energy ratings demonstrates how this product successfully balances functionality, efficiency and user-centred design.”

“The Jury congratulates the team on creating an accessible, high-performance appliance that ergonomically enhances the standard dishwasher experience.”

Midea says the Good Design Awards recognition reflects the brand’s commitment to designing appliances around the way Australians live and interact with their appliances.

“Being recognised by Good Design Australia is a proud moment for our team. The Easy-Lift Dishwasher was designed to make everyday living easier, more comfortable and more efficient. This award shows that thoughtful, accessible design belongs in every Australian household,” said Ivan Ma, General Manager for Midea Australia and New Zealand.

“At Midea, we recognise that Australian households are increasingly busy and need smarter solutions for everyday routines. Whether it's someone with a bad back, a multigenerational household, or one with a busy work and after school schedules that makes clean up after meals a time-sensitive task, the Easy-Lift Dishwasher is designed to make a daily chore easier on everyone.”
