MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, MARCH 9, 2026 – Midea, the world’s number one air conditioner company and the world’s leading manufacturer of home appliances, has today officially opened its first dedicated HVAC showroom and experience centre in Australia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s local expansion and reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting Australia’s evolving climate control needs.
The new Melbourne showroom brings together solutions from Midea Building Technologies (MBT) including commercial and trade HVAC systems, alongside consumer-focused products from Midea’s Residential Air Conditioning (RAC) portfolio.
The facility, which opened its doors for the first time with an opening ceremony on Friday March 6, is part of Midea’s expanding investment in both commercial and residential climate solutions locally. It has been designed as an experiential hub for local contractors, consultants, developers, partners and consumers and reflects Midea’s broader intention to strengthen collaboration with Australia’s HVAC industry through education, demonstration and technical engagement.
Midea is one of the world’s leading HVAC manufacturers, recognised as the world’s number one air conditioner company for the last two years, and the number one residential inverter air conditioning company for the last three years. Globally, one in every four inverter air conditioners, and one in every two compressors in the world is produced by Midea.

Such leadership requires significant investment in manufacturing and R&D, and Midea Building Technologies continues to focus its engineering and product development on addressing these evolving requirements through scalable design and inverter-driven technologies. It comes as building owners globally continue to seek HVAC solutions that prioritise energy efficiency, operational flexibility and intelligent system management.
The Melbourne showroom presents a comprehensive portfolio spanning from light commercial mini VRF systems to large-scale multi-unit configurations, alongside R290 residential heat pumps and commercial water heating solutions, as well as magnetic-bearing centrifugal chillers. The display also features LINVOL elevators, data center solutions, and commercial building solutions. This extensive range not only addresses the full spectrum of commercial product demands in the Australian market, but also demonstrates MBT's evolution from product sales to integrated multi-scenario solution capabilities.
By creating a space where industry professionals and consumers can directly engage with its technologies, Midea aims to support broader awareness of its HVAC capabilities while strengthening partnerships across the Australian market.
Alongside commercial solutions, the showroom includes a dedicated space featuring Midea’s residential air conditioning portfolio, highlighting technologies specifically designed to enhance comfort and efficiency in Australian homes.
Australia presents some of the most challenging climatic conditions in the world, from the humid summers in the north to the chilly winters down south. At the same time, air conditioners have evolved from seasonal appliances into a year-round home essential, increasingly serving as a clean and efficient alternative for heating. Consumers today are more informed than ever. They are not just looking for performance—they care about consistency, ease of use, daily comfort, and energy efficiency.

Midea’s residential range includes high wall split systems, multi-split configurations, portable options, ducted and cassette solutions designed to suit a wide variety of homes, from apartments through to larger family residences and light commercial environments. Having this new HVAC showroom allows homeowners and partners to experience Midea’s climate solutions firsthand and to see how our technology, like ECOMASTER and PRIMEGUARD, translates into real, everyday comfort.
Ivan Ma, General Manager, Midea Australia and New Zealand
“Today represents much more than the opening of a new facility. It marks a new chapter in Midea’s journey in Australia and reflects our long-term commitment to supporting and evolving the local HVAC and home appliances industries.”
“Opening our first dedicated HVAC showroom in Australia represents a long-term commitment to the market and to supporting local industry partners more closely. We see this as a foundation. It is a place where collaboration, learning and innovation can happen together, and is a foundation block for the continued growth of the Midea business in Australia.”
Taufiq Lee, General Manager of APAC region, Midea Building Technology
“Commercial HVAC is shifting from standalone equipment to being integrated into building infrastructure, directly impacting the efficiency and performance of a building.”
"Efficiency, flexibility and intelligent control are becoming defining requirements for modern HVAC systems, and Midea Building Technologies is leading the way, both globally and here in Australia."
“One of the key technologies showcased here is our air-cooled modular chiller platform. Air-cooled modular chillers allow capacity to grow with demand while maintaining efficient operation across changing building conditions. Multiple modules operate together as a unified system, delivering performance that is scalable, while also simplifying maintenance.”
"Creating a space where engineers and contractors can engage directly with working systems will help bridge the gap between design and implementation."
Henry Guan, Country Manager, Midea Residential Air Conditioning
“Australian homes demand air conditioning solutions that are not only powerful but also reliable, energy-saving and intelligent. This is exactly why Midea has made a significant and sustained investment in R&D tailored specifically to Aussie conditions. We are dedicated to understanding the local architecture, lifestyle, and energy needs.”
“Today marks an important milestone, as Midea is here to grow, to deepen our relationships with partners and installers, and to earn the trust of Australian families, one home at a time.”
“By creating a dedicated environment for collaboration and product experience, Midea aims to support greater understanding of its HVAC technologies while contributing to the continued development of climate solutions across the Australian market.”
The showroom is located at 1513 Dandenong Road, Oakleigh, VIC 3166.
