Midea Building Technologies has successfully secured the contract for Phase 2 of the centralised cooling project at Tengah Town — Singapore’s flagship “Forest Town” public housing development — delivering high-efficiency, eco-friendly “Midea Intelligence” to the community.

This livelihood project, undertaken by Keppel (a Temasek-owned group) for investment in, design, installation, and operation of energy systems, is not only a key step in the Singapore government’s commitment to “next-generation public housing” and public facilities, but also a pioneering effort in harmonising nature with human-centric residential living.

Midea’s High-Efficiency Integrated Chiller Plant

Powering Singapore’s Vision of a “Forest Town”

Since the project consultation began in August 2024, the Midea Building Technologies Singapore team swiftly mobilized and efficiently aligned backend resources. After multiple rounds of rigorous technical reviews and solution evaluations, the team proposed a high-efficiency integrated chiller plant solution centered on 11 units of 250RT magnetic-levitation all-in-one chillers using the new refrigerant R1234ze.

Thanks to its outstanding technical performance, robust system design, and the team’s professional services that prioritize the customer value chain — coupled with rapid response capabilities — Midea earned the client’s trust and ultimately stood out among numerous international brands to secure the contract. Notably, this marks the first time the client has considered a Chinese brand for a magnetic-levitation all-in-one chiller solution.

Midea’s high-efficiency integrated chiller plant offers rapid deployment, high-level integration, easy management, and flexible scalability. It features advanced systems such as intelligent control cabinets, base-load variable frequency drives, high-efficiency chillers, water treatment systems, high-performance valves, variable frequency pump controls, and optimized piping. With a COP of up to 6.0, the solution also saves one-third of the footprint and shortens construction time by up to three-quarters, while meeting flexible and rapid capacity expansion needs.

Facing the exceptionally high standards and complex requirements of the Singapore market, Midea Building Technologies leveraged its professional expertise to deliver excellence across every stage of the project — from meticulous contract management and multi-departmental coordination to precision solution design and the efficient supply of equipment.

As a flagship government initiative, this project marks a new starting point for Midea Building Technologies in supporting Singapore’s vision of creating greener, more sustainable, and smarter community spaces — providing residents with a more comfortable, healthier living environment and accelerating the city’s smart urban development.

The successful bid not only signifies Midea’s recognition in the high-end water-cooled chiller market but also strengthens the brand’s influence in Southeast Asia and across the global market. From Singapore’s Tengah Town, the green footprint of Midea’s magnetic levitation technology is stepping onto a broader world stage. Looking ahead, Midea Building Technologies will continue to drive innovation, creating more green possibilities for the world — and letting the world witness the green intelligence of Midea manufacturing.
