Troubleshooting & FAQs

  • Noises from the dishwasher, and what they mean.

    Humming or Buzzing:

Explanation: A low-level humming or buzzing noise is normal. It often comes from the motor or pump circulating water.

Action: No action required; this is typical during the washing cycle.

    Water Swishing or Splashing:

Explanation: The sound of water moving around is normal as the dishwasher sprays water to clean the dishes.

Action: No action required; this is part of the washing process.

    Clicking or Snapping:

Explanation: Dishwashers have moving parts, such as detergent dispensers or latches, which may produce clicking sounds.

Action: No action required; these noises are usually harmless.

    Draining Sounds:

Explanation: Gurgling or draining sounds occur when the dishwasher expels water at the end of the cycle.

Action: No action required; this is a normal part of the cycle.

    Loud Grinding or Rattling:

Explanation: This may indicate an issue with the dishwasher's motor, pump, or spray arm.

Action: Pause the dishwasher, inspect for any loose items, and if the noise persists, contact customer support.

    High-Pitched Squealing or Whining:

Explanation: This could be due to a faulty pump motor or worn-out bearings.

Action: If persistent, contact customer support.

    Banging or Thumping:

Explanation: Dishes that are improperly loaded or foreign objects can cause these sounds.

Action: Stop the dishwasher, rearrange dishes, and ensure nothing is obstructing the spray arm.

    Continuous Clicking:

Explanation: This might indicate an issue with the control panel.

Action: Reset the dishwasher by turning it off and back on. If the clicking persists, contact customer support.

    Excessive Vibrations:

Explanation: Misalignment or unbalanced loads can lead to increased vibrations.

Action: Ensure dishes are evenly distributed. If the problem continues, check for leveling issues or customer support.

  • My dishwasher isnt draining. What should I check?

When was the dishwasher installed? If the unit is a new install, there could be an issue with how the drain hose is run, resulting in it being blocked or kinked.

Is the unit hooked up to a garbage disposal? If so, is the garbage disposal new? There is a small knockout on the garbage disposal that must be removed for a dishwasher to drain into it. This is sometimes not removed, causing issues with the unit's drainage.

Check the filters at the bottom of the machine. These filters need to be cleaned periodically, and if they become clogged, it can cause the unit to have trouble draining.

Does the drain hose run up to an Air gap on the countertop? These air gaps can become clogged easily. Clean the air gap and see if the issue goes away. These are building code in some areas

    .

Try to drain the unit into a bucket. If the unit drains fine into a bucket but has issues when hooked to the plumbing, it is a plumbing problem, not a machine issue.

  • My dishwasher isnt cleaning properly. What to check.

    Check the Water Temperature:

Ensure the water in the dishwasher is hot during the wash cycle. Open the door about halfway through the wash cycle and see if the water inside is warm.

    Use the Right Detergent:

Ensure you are using the correct type and amount of dishwasher detergent. Dishwasher powder, tabs, or gel are all acceptable, but ensure they are specifically designed for dishwashers and not just general-purpose dish detergent. Dish detergent can cause an oversudsing situation.

    Clean the Spray Arms:

Inspect the spray arms for any clogs or debris. Remove the arms and clean them thoroughly. Clogged spray arms can lead to poor water distribution.

    Clean the Filter:

Check the dishwasher's filter for any food particles or debris. A clogged filter can reduce water flow and affect cleaning performance.

    Load Dishes Properly:

Ensure that dishes are loaded properly, allowing water to reach all surfaces. Don't overcrowd the dishwasher, as this can obstruct water flow.

    Check Water Pressure:

Verify that the water pressure to the dishwasher is sufficient. Low water pressure can affect the performance of the spray arms.

    Inspect the Door Seal:

Check the door seal for any signs of damage or wear. A properly sealed door ensures that water remains inside the dishwasher, allowing it to effectively clean the dishes.

  • The dishes arent dry. What to check.

    Check the Rinse Aid Dispenser:

Ensure that the rinse aid dispenser is filled with rinse aid fluid.

Adjust the rinse aid dispenser setting according to the manuals recommendations.

    Use Rinse Aid:

If you haven't been using rinse aid, start using it. Rinse aid helps water to sheet off dishes, promoting faster drying.

    Proper Loading:

Make sure you're loading the dishwasher correctly, allowing proper water drainage and air circulation.

Avoid overloading the dishwasher, as this can prevent proper drying.

    Check the Heating Element:

Confirm that the heating element is functioning properly. The heating element is responsible for drying the dishes.

Run a test cycle and check if the heating element is warm during the drying phase.

    Water Temperature:

Verify that the water entering the dishwasher is hot. If the water is not hot enough, the dishes won't dry effectively.

    Select the Appropriate Wash Cycle:

Ensure that you're using the correct wash cycle with a drying phase. Some cycles may not include drying or use lower temperatures.
