Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Finance Manager to join our growing team. This position is responsible for leading budgeting, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, treasury, tax compliance, internal controls, and finance process improvements for Midea Canada. This person will oversee financial forecasts and closing processes, strengthen financial systems and controls, and work closely with corporate, shared services, banking, tax, and cross-functional teams. The Senior Finance Manager will also provide leadership to the finance team, supporting employee development, performance improvement, and succession planning.

Role & Responsibilities

1) Budgeting and FP&A: Coordinating and directing the preparation of annual budget and monthly financial forecasts; compiling and analyzing the variance in monthly financials, versus the company's budget;

 

2) Financial Reporting: Managing month-end and year-end closing processes; coordinating with FSSC to prepare and publish timely monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, maintaining the highest quality, reliability, and accuracy; reviewing monthly reconciliation and business accruals; researching and resolving accounting issues including evaluation and Implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure compliance and the documentation of management's interpretation of these new pronouncements;

 

3) Treasury: Responsible for the monthly cash flow forecast preparation, analysis, and submission to Corporate Treasury; managing the Internal and external banking relationships to ensure the company receives appropriate level of required service;

 

4) Tax: Cooperating with external tax accountant to manage tax filings processes to ensure compliance with federal government reporting requirements;

 

5) Process and Internal Control: Coordinating, developing and updating written accounting policies and procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls; managing accounting system, including being participant in the enhancement, maintenance and optimization of finance systems and integrations.; supporting cross-functional initiatives by assisting in the design and implementation of related financial processes; cooperating with internal auditor to carry out regular self-assessment on control activities; continuously identifying opportunities to strengthen internal financial controls while maintaining efficiencies in processes; and responsible for finance internal control environment in line with internal control reporting framework;

 

6) Change Management and Leadership: Researching and implementing software applications and tools that can be utilized to improve and accelerate the accounting operations and overall finance efficiency in the future; and providing leadership to the finance team, focusing on career development, continual performance improvement, staff development and succession planning.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, including financial reporting, FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • 3+ years of experience in a finance leadership or managerial role, with demonstrated experience leading, developing, and mentoring finance teams.
  • Strong experience with annual budgeting, financial forecasting, variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Solid knowledge of month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience working with Treasury, banking relationships, tax compliance, and external accounting/tax advisors.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, audit processes, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial systems, including system implementation, process optimization, and integrations. SAP experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and lead finance transformation or change-management initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin) is required.
  • Chinese (Mandarin) fluency is required due to the role’s frequent communication and coordination with China-based corporate and finance teams.
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional accounting/finance certification is preferred.
  • Experience working in a multinational company or shared services environment is preferred.

 

Salary Range

  • 120K CAD/yr – 145K CAD/yr + Bonus
