Karawang, May 21, 2026 – Midea Electronics Indonesia officially invited its key dealers to visit its refrigerator manufacturing plant in Indonesia as part of the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening investment, local production, and support for the growth of the domestic home appliance industry.

The establishment of this refrigerator plant marks another significant milestone for Midea Electronics Indonesia, following the launch of its air conditioner (AC) factory in 2024 and washing machine factory in 2025. The facility is also the first and only factory in Indonesia capable of producing both side-by-side refrigerators and chest freezers within a single integrated production facility.

Located in the Suryacipta Industrial Estate, Karawang, the new refrigerator factory is built on a site spanning more than 150,000 square meters and is designed to achieve an annual production capacity of over 2 million units.

The facility is expected to become one of Midea’s key refrigerator production bases, serving the growing domestic market while also supporting exports to various countries. With its production scale and capacity, the plant is positioned as the largest refrigerator factory in Indonesia.

The factory also makes a tangible contribution to local employment by creating thousands of new job opportunities for communities in Karawang and surrounding areas, including roles in production, operations, and supporting supply chain sectors. In addition to supporting regional economic growth, this initiative reflects Midea’s efforts to enhance the capabilities of Indonesia’s workforce through the development of a modern manufacturing industry.

This investment further demonstrates Midea’s support for the Indonesian government’s policies aimed at increasing foreign investment, strengthening the national manufacturing sector, and accelerating the adoption of locally produced goods.

Through the expansion of its manufacturing facilities, Midea aims to continue contributing to national economic growth while strengthening Indonesia’s position as a regional hub for home appliance production.

Jack Ding, President Director of PT Midea Electronics Indonesia, stated that the development of the new manufacturing facility reflects Midea’s commitment to growing together with its business partners and consumers in Indonesia.

“This factory symbolizes Midea’s long-term commitment to Indonesia. We aim to deliver better-quality products, more flexible deliveries, faster services, and features that are increasingly relevant to the needs of Indonesian consumers,” said Jack Ding during the factory inauguration in Karawang on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

By strengthening its local manufacturing capabilities, Midea also seeks to improve supply chain efficiency, accelerate product distribution, and create more employment opportunities for Indonesians. This initiative is part of the company’s broader strategy to support the development of the national industrial ecosystem and increase local content utilization.

The Midea refrigerator factory will manufacture a wide range of products, including side-by-side refrigerators, double-door refrigerators, single-door refrigerators, and chest freezers. Midea is also introducing inverter chest freezers designed to meet the needs of the Indonesian market with greater energy efficiency.

Export Opportunities Across Southeast Asia

Michael Adisuhanto, Vice President of PT Midea Electronics Indonesia, stated that this ongoing investment is part of Midea’s vision to position Indonesia as one of its strategic manufacturing hubs in Southeast Asia.

“By strengthening local production, we are not only supporting domestic market demand but also creating opportunities to support export operations across Southeast Asia. We believe strong collaboration with our dealers and partners will serve as the foundation for sustainable growth in the future,” said Michael.

Through the factory visit, Midea hopes its dealer partners can gain a closer understanding of the company’s manufacturing capabilities, product innovations, and commitment to delivering the best products and services to Indonesian consumers.

Midea also expressed its appreciation to all dealers and business partners for their continued trust and support. The company remains optimistic that these partnerships will grow even stronger and drive sustainable growth in the years ahead.

During the same occasion, Ye Tao, President Director of the Refrigerator Factory at Midea Electronics Indonesia, explained that the new manufacturing facility was designed according to modern manufacturing standards with a strong focus on product quality and technological innovation.

“We hope this factory will bring added value to the Indonesian market while showcasing Midea’s continuously evolving manufacturing capabilities and product innovations,” said Ye Tao.

Expansion of Washing Machine Production

In addition to expanding its refrigerator business, Midea is also strengthening its washing machine manufacturing capacity in Indonesia. Midea’s washing machine factory in Cikarang is targeted to reach a production capacity of up to 500,000 units per year.

The factory currently manufactures twin-tub washing machines and is scheduled to expand its investment to include the production of top-loading washing machines starting next year.
